An Afar version of this page will be published once an Afar speaker has checked the translation.
Aarho is a free, non-profit assistant for Afar speakers. This page explains what Aarho keeps about you, why, and what you can do about it.
What Aarho keeps
- Your messages and Aarho's answers. Voice messages are written down as text; the recording itself is not kept. Photos are used to answer you and are not kept.
- If you create an account: your email address and, if you sign in with Google, your name.
- If you are signed in: a short note that Aarho writes from your conversations (for example your name, where you live, your work and your goals), so it can help you better next time. It never keeps passwords, phone or ID numbers, exact addresses or money details.
- Daily use: how many messages you send each day and your internet (IP) address, to apply the free daily limits and stop abuse.
- Your ratings of answers (thumbs up or down).
How Aarho uses it
- To answer your messages and keep your conversations.
- To remember you if you are signed in, so answers fit you better. If you ask the same question again within a week, Aarho can give you its earlier answer.
- To improve Aarho's Afar: our Afar language team only reads answers you rated, or all your conversations if you turned on "Help improve Aarho's Afar".
- Aarho shows no ads and never sells your data.
How long it is kept
- Guests: your chat list is kept in your browser; messages on our servers are kept to run Aarho and its daily limits.
- Accounts: your conversations and memory note are kept until you delete them or ask us to delete your account.
- A sign-in lasts 60 days; after that you sign in again.
Your choices
- Make Aarho forget what it remembers about you: account menu → "Forget what Aarho remembers".
- Delete any conversation from the chat list.
- Turn sharing with our Afar language team on or off in your account menu.
- Ask us to delete your account and all your conversations by writing to the email address below.
Children
Aarho is not made for children under 13. Children under 13 should use Aarho only together with a parent.
Security
Aarho uses encrypted connections (HTTPS), has no passwords that could be stolen, and keeps your sign-in in a protected cookie.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be on this page with a new date.
